Clinical Training & Exposure

Mannai Narayanasamy College of Nursing has established strong clinical tie-ups with reputed government and private healthcare institutions to provide students with extensive hands-on training. These collaborations ensure that students gain exposure to real hospital environments and advanced medical practices.

Students undergo clinical training at leading hospitals such as Government District Headquarters Hospital, Kumbakonam, Thanjavur Medical College and Hospital, Raja Mirasudar Hospital, and various private multispeciality hospitals in Thanjavur. In addition, students are also posted at Urban and Rural Primary Health Centres at Karanthai and Mellattur for community-based training. These tie-ups play a vital role in bridging the gap between theoretical learning and practical application.

Clinical postings are an integral part of the academic curriculum, enabling students to apply their knowledge in real-time healthcare settings. Students are systematically assigned to different hospital departments throughout their course duration.

These postings are carefully planned to provide step-by-step learning, starting from basic patient care to advanced clinical procedures. Under the supervision of experienced faculty and medical professionals, students develop confidence, responsibility, and professional competence.

Students receive comprehensive exposure to a wide range of medical departments, ensuring well-rounded clinical training. They are trained in specialized areas such as Intensive Care Units (ICU), Operation Theatre (OT), Pediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Psychiatric Care, Emergency & Casualty, and various medical and surgical departments.

This multi-department exposure helps students understand diverse patient conditions, treatment procedures, and healthcare protocols, preparing them to handle complex clinical situations effectively.

In addition to hospital-based training, the institution emphasizes community health nursing to promote preventive and promotive healthcare. Students actively participate in community outreach programs, rural health camps, and field visits.

They gain practical experience in public health activities such as health education, vaccination programs, maternal and child health care, and disease prevention. This training instills social responsibility and prepares students to serve both urban and rural communities.

The institution ensures that students are exposed to real-time patient care scenarios, allowing them to observe, assist, and gradually perform clinical procedures under expert guidance.

Through direct patient interaction, students develop critical thinking, decision-making skills, and effective communication. This real-time exposure enhances their clinical judgment and prepares them to handle emergencies and routine care with confidence and professionalism.
